The Virginia Tech - Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES) is a unique partnership that consists of 76 faculty (25 primary and 51 core/joint) across ten departments, nine research institutes, and four medical schools. We are embarking on an exciting growth plan that will double our faculty by adding 50 positions within the next 5 years. 1 Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech
The Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will initiate and maintain an active research program and contribute to the educational mission of the Department at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are seeking applicants in the broad field of biomechanics including sports biomechanics and concussion research.
The position will be located on the Virginia Tech campus of the School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES) in Blacksburg, Virginia. The SBES is a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional program that bridges engineering, science, and medicine. The program combines and leverages the strengths of Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering, the Wake Forest School of Medicine, the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and the new Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine to produce an environment that fosters outstanding interdisciplinary research and education.
Candidates must hold a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering or a related engineering field, have a record of excellent scholarship in biomedical engineering, and be motivated to make major contributions according to a visionary plan. The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES) of Wake Forest University School of Medicine has an excellent opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship. The successful candidate will initiate and maintain active research programs and contribute to the educational mission of the department at the graduate level. We are seeking applicants across areas of biomedical engineering, synergistic with the current research strategic plan for Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Particular disease areas of interest include cancer, aging, diabetes, and regenerative medicine. Technology areas include imaging and nanomedicine. All areas in keeping with the research strategic plan will be considered. Qualified candidates at the level of Associate and Full Professor will also be considered.
