Cell and Tissue Engineering M.S. Track

 


Tissue Engineering Degree Track: (in addition to BME requirements)

PURPOSE:

The Cell and Tissue Engineering Track in the School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES) will provide the student with an opportunity to work in this revolutionary field with BME faculty who, in conjunction with the Wake Forest University Institute for Regenerative Medicine, are pioneering methods for using the patients'' own cells to grow new tissue and organs. Specific topics include:

Introduction to Regenerative Medicine
Biomedical Engineering and Human Disease
Biological Transport Phenomena
Cell Adhesion
Biomaterials
Fundamentals of Tissue Structure

REQUIREMENTS:

Course Requirements: Each Masters Degree student must take 2 of the core courses offered below to be considered in the Cell and Tissue Engineering Track. Each Ph.D. degree student must take 3 courses listed below.  Additional coursework may be taken from either the remaining core courses or the Technical Elective courses.

Research Requirements: Masters Degree students are required to complete a thesis as part of their degree requirements.  Doctoral students are required to complete a Doctoral thesis as part of their degree requirements.
