The mission of the Biotransport and Optics Lab is to engage in translational research at the intersection of biomedical tissue optics, device design, and heat and mass transport. The broader impact of this unique area of research will advance the frontiers of knowledge, enhance the quality of life for individuals, and enhance the educational experience of undergraduate and graduate students.

Dr. Christopher Rylander is the Principal Investigaor of the Biotransport and Photonics Laboratory. He is an assistant professor at Virginia Tech and is jointly appointed in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES).
