Medical Physics Ph.D. Track

Medical Physics Track Requirements: (in addition to BME requirements)

PURPOSE:

The Medical Physics track in SBES will include basic radiation physics, radiation biology, the physics of imaging (X-ray, CT, Nuclear Medicine/PET, and MRI), and the physics of radiation treatment.  An MS degree is not currently offered.


REQUIREMENTS:

Course Requirements: Each Ph.D. student must take the core and elective courses listed below.

Research Requirements: Masters Degree students are required to complete a thesis as part of their degree requirements.  Doctoral students are required to complete a Doctoral thesis as part of their degree requirements.

Medical Imaging I
Medical Imaging II
MDEG 781 Clinical Rotation I

Life Sciences:

Mammalian Physiology
TBA Radiobiology (Cancer Biol) new
Medical Ethics (summer session)

Math or Computer Science: As approved by Advisory Committee

Electives: 9 to 21 hours of approved electives. 9 hours from approved Physics electives

Dissertation Research: 39 to 54 hours: PHYS
